On Tuesday 24th January, Dogs Trust came to River Mead to deliver a whole school assembly on how to stay safe around dogs. Children learned that they should always stay still if a dog runs towards them and to ask the owner if they can stroke a dog before approaching the pet.
Emily Brown from Dogs Trust then delivered workshops across the school. Our Year 1 children found out more about recycling and how this affects animals (dogs in particular), whilst Year 2 learned how to care for a pet dog.
Year 3 used the ideas of Dogs Trust to inspire some writing, Year 5 joined a workshop on maths to work out the cost of owning a dog and Year 6 had a workshop on evolution and adaptation.
The children were delighted to receive a certificate and sticker as well as an information leaflet for their parents. Thank you to Emily and The Dog’s Trust for the visit and a very informative day.
